PROFONDO BLU
It is obvious that young jazz talents find a fertile ground in Genk. The opener of this fourth festival edition is a Genk talent again, and it is a person with Italian roots again! After Michel Bisceglia (2004) and Carlo Nardozza (2006) itís Alano Gruarinís turn this year. He presents his newest album ëProfondo Bluí and performs together wit a strings ensemble, especially for this occasion.
Alano Gruarin has studied classical Music at the Lemmens Institute with pianoforte specialist Jan Vermeulen and jazz with bebop specialist Ron Van Rossum. He is a piano teacher in Genk and Tongeren and plays as a sidemen in various projects. The dynamic personality and the open mind of this colourful virtuoso resound in the composition of the numbers. Jef Neven remarked this about ëProfondo Bluí: little masterpieces, each of them. Michel Besceglia summarized it as follows: ìsurprisingly traditionalî.
Alano Gruarin, piano
Werner Lauscher, bass
Maarten Moesen, drums
