THE BAD PLUS (US)
Thursday 15 November 2007 from 21.00 until 22.30 h
Casino Modern, Genk
Without any doubt one of the most remarkable jazz acts of the recent years. The Bad Plus was not only noticed in jazz environments but also far beyond them.
Four years ago, their first album ëThese Are The
Vistasí already set the tone. The group has a very own sound,
reminding more of a wild rock & roll band rather than a
well mannered jazz trio.
The Bad Plus serves original compositions,
always well seasoned with influences of Stravinsky until Ornette Coleman. But
in addition to this they also present provoking interpretations of pop and
rock ëstandardsí and the band juggles with tracks of groups like
Nirvana, ABBA, Black Sabbath, Queen, Blondie, Aphex Twin, Neil Young or Bjork.
The Bad Plus has built up a reputation of one of the most
progressive music groups avoiding all jazz clichÈs at all times.
