Casino Modern, Genk
Experts consider Chris Potter (?Chicago 1971) as one of the most exceptional saxophone players of his generation.
At 18 years old, during his studies in New York, he got
acquainted with piano player Kenny Werner, with whom he would form a duo later
on. He also played together with trumpet player and bebop heavyweight Red
Rodney. When he completed his studies in 1993, he played as a sideman with top
artists like Mingus Big Band, Paul Motian, Ray Brown, Jim Hall, James Moody, Dave DouglasÖ
In
1994 he even joigned Steely Dan, whose album "Two Against Nature" was
nominated with a Grammy (gold). Since
the release of his album Gratitude (2001) his frequent cooperation with a.o. Dave
Holland and Dave Douglas, with whom he is often on tour, doesnít keep him
from giving concerts with his own group all over the world.
Chris Potter is an
artist with an unlimited creativity and with full consciousness of history, the
present and the future.Ö
